A group of 42 members of the Sunlighter Senior Citizens Welfare Society, Chandigarh, recently undertook a seven-day trip to Bhutan through Parents Holiday. It was an enjoyable, enriching and memorable experience for all of us. The tour was well planned and professionally organised, with knowledgeable guides and a dedicated professional tour coordinator. The itinerary was managed efficiently, and the overall arrangements were very good. The hotels selected were comfortable, with spacious, clean and well-maintained rooms. The food arrangements were also good and contributed positively to the experience overall. At the same time, travelling with a group of senior citizens requires a few additional considerations. One area that deserves attention is hotel selection. Hotels without lifts can be particularly inconvenient for senior travellers, especially when rooms are located on higher floors. Future tours would benefit from selecting properties with lifts and easier accessibility. The bus arrangements have further scope for improvement. For senior citizens, comfortable seating, easy boarding and alighting, adequate space and safe driving are particularly important. During the journey, there was a near-miss situation, although thankfully nobody was injured. Safety should therefore receive the highest priority in future tours. Despite these areas for improvement, the overall experience was very enjoyable, pleasant and memorable. Bhutan's natural beauty, peaceful environment and warm hospitality made the journey truly special. Special thanks to Mrs Palak Khurana for her personal attention to all the members of the group.
